    CUET PG 2026: Key Changes in Application Fee, Exam Centre, and Pattern by NTA

    The CUET PG 2026 exam date notification introduces several modifications to the examination process, such as a rise in the application fee, adjustments to domestic exam cities, and an expansion of international exam cities for the entrance test.     NTA has released the CUET PG application form 2026 at exams.nta.ac.in/cuet-pg. However, last year the application form was released on pgcuet.samarth.ac.in.

    Revised Application Fee Structure

    The application fee for CUET PG 2026 has risen by INR 200 compared to the previous year. General category candidates will need to pay INR 1,400, while OBC NCL/EWS candidates are required to pay INR 1,200. Additionally, the fee for appearing in extra test papers has been increased by INR 100. Students will now have to pay INR 700 per additional test paper, up from INR 600.

    Expanded Exam Centres

    The number of CUET PG 2026 exam cities has been expanded. According to the 2024 result notification, the CUET PG CBT exam took place in 572 centres across 253 domestic cities, while the CUET PG 2026 exam will be conducted in 285 domestic cities. However, some media outlets have reported a reduction in the number of domestic exam centres for the 2026 session.

    Ensure you select your preferred exam centre wisely while filling out the application form, as changes post-submission may not be permitted.

     

    Changes in Exam Pattern

    CUET PG 2026 has introduced subtle yet impactful changes in its exam pattern:

    1. Number of Questions: The total number of questions remains 100 but is now distributed as follows:
      • Part A: 25 questions focusing on General Aptitude.
      • Part B: 75 questions related to the specific subject chosen.
    2. Marking Scheme:
      • Correct Answer: +4 marks
      • Incorrect Answer: –1 mark
      • Unattempted Question: 0 marks
    3. Exam Duration: The CUET PG 2026 exam duration has been shortened from 105 minutes to 90 minutes for each test paper. 
    4. Medium of the Exam: The test will be conducted in 13 languages, including Hindi, English, Tamil, Bengali, and more, ensuring inclusivity.

     

    Tips to Adapt to the Changes

    1. Understand the Fee Structure: Plan your budget for the application fee based on the courses you wish to apply for.
    2. Choose Centres Early: Pick your preferred exam centres as soon as the application portal opens to secure a convenient location.
    3. Revise the Syllabus: Focus on both aptitude and subject-specific preparation, adhering to the updated pattern.
    4. Time Management Practice: Take mock tests to get comfortable with the flexible time allocation.
